Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

Written by:

Starring: Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Rick Yune

Plot: The White House and the President (Eckhart) is seized by an army of North Korean terrorists, led by Kang (Yune). Mike Banning (Butler)—former President guard—finds himself in the White House and being the only man capable of saving the President and the fate of the United States of America.

Overall: 1/10

Review: There was absolutely nothing enjoyable about this film. I think the only thing I could appreciate was the “realness” to the explicitly violent scenes. Other than that though, there was nothing realistic about this film whatsoever. The way Olympus “falls” is ridiculously portrayed of American government security and procedures (or at least I would hope that’s not how we would react in that kind of situation). I think a weak plot kills a film, and that’s exactly what happened here. It was disappointing because for as skeptical as I was about this film, I had high hopes that it would change my mind.
