Plot: Set in the year 2154, Elysium has been created where the wealthy and healthy live. The rest of the population lives on Earth where it is overpopulated and polluted. After suffering from an injury that leaves him with five days to live, Max (Damon), undertakes the battle to make it to Elysium.
Review: I thought this movie was okay. I don’t know how else to really explain. It was one of those films that I was amped to see, and after leaving the theater, I didn’t really have any sort of reaction to it. The concept was incredible and the effects were spectacular—really well done. The characters were well developed, but I hate to say it, the plot was kind of weak. I feel that if it gripped more of the concept rather than encircling the plot around Frey’s (Braga) dying daughter and the personal tie between her and Max (Damon), the film could’ve been so much stronger.
