Overall: I have a problem with the Hunger Games. First, I just want to disclose that I have not read the books, so I’m basing this solely off the film – so Hunger Games fanatics, don’t yell at me for judging the film on what it didn’t include or elaborate on in the books! For starters, Katniss is insanely naïve and annoying. She’s very whiny after the first film and I found myself yelling at her during pretty much the rest of the films. I also didn’t like the stupid love triangle they made between Peeta, Katniss and Gale. I didn’t find any redeeming qualities about including that in the film (or book for that matter). I’d like to see the film delve more into the concept of Panem and it’s political structure, the truth of the actual Hunger Games, etc. I wanted more storyline rather than the action. I wanted to know what things were – like they explained tracker jackers in the first film, whereas in the other two films they don’t really explain what these “creatures” are (i.e. “Mutts” – I don’t even know if I spelled that correctly).
