Starring: Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, Zoe Soul, Justina Machado
Plot: A mother and daughter, a couple, and a man seeking revenge for the man who killed his son are grouped to try and survive the night during the annual Purge. A group of poor rebels are congregating to fight those who Purge (main target are the wealthy).
Overall: Better than the first, but still an utter disappointment. I wanted to see more on the anarchy concept than the acts of the Purge. I thought the rise of the poor and rebels was a brilliant concept and the part near the ending was fantastic, but I thought that’s what the film really need to emphasize and evolve around, rather than these five strangers who are trying to survive the night. Just like the first, it puts too much emphasis on a single group of “victims” rather than focusing on the main purpose of the film. I would’ve liked to see more attacks from the rebels and the organization of the anarchy, than the chaos of the Purge.
