Starring: Hugh Jackman, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Paul Dano
Plot: Keller Dover’s daughter, Anna, and her friend, Julia go missing. Keller (Jackman) takes things into his own hands when the police are following up on multiple leads but are seemingly pressured to find the girls.
Overall: I figured this movie out halfway through. The fact that it is over two hours long is just exhausting to watch because there are torture scenes that I felt were just unnecessary and dragged out much longer than they truly needed to be. I felt that they focused too much on shaping Jackman’s character for a twist that it became a boring plot, especially when I figured it out halfway through (and was correct at the ending about an hour and 15 mins later!). While I harshly criticize the actual film, I gave it an 8 for its originality and acceptable execution. Jake Gyllenhaal…I think this was one of his best performances I’ve ever seen.
