The Conjuring (2013)

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Lili Taylor, Ron Livingston, Shanley Caswell, Hayley McFarland, Joey King, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver

Plot: The Perron family moves into a new Rhode Island home, where they experience paranormal/demonic activity. The Warrens (Wilson and Farmiga) are approached by Carolyn Perron (Taylor)—the mother of five daughters—to confront and exorcise the demon that has been haunting their family.

Overall: 7/10

Review: I was expecting this to be absolutely terrible. If you take your average movie-goer, they gush about how eerie this film was and whatnot. But I’m an avid horror film goer, so I’m a bit more harsh when it comes to these types of film. Given my expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. However, as an overall review, I’d give it a B. It was jumpy, but predictable. It honestly reminded me of The Last Exorcism meets The Haunting in Connecticut. It gave me a few goosebumps, and delivered on the “creepiness,” but failed in originality.
